Internet Filters. The good and the bad.

I am new to the Sampson Society and have been struggling with the Internet for years. I have been using the "Wise Choice" internet filter for a couple years, with mostly good results. I am wanting your input about internet filters, what has worked and what has not.

My questions are...

1. Do you use a internet filter?
2. What are the best filters out there?
3. Most filters have a monthly (or annual) fee. Does this discourage some people from using the filters?
4. If I could offer people a free filter, do you think they would use it?
5. Does having to explain to others (wife, children, friends) why you have a filter on your computer, make some not want to install the filter?
6. What are the most common reasons for NOT installing a filter?

I would love to see all guys that struggle with internet porn install a filter. I am trying to determine if a free service, for anyone that wants it, would be possible. Thanks for your input. ---Adam

I haven't use one yet...just found this one from our school board.

A couple of our brothers in our Samson group use a type of filter that is hooked up to your accountablty partner...he see's where you've gone through his computer.

Keep the pc in the busiest place in your house so everyone can see what you are looking at...and if you have kids...you can see what they are into.

And when you get that itch...give a brother a shout...that's what he is there for. Besides...if you don't, you are blocking your brother from getting the blessings of helping you! He won't judge you...he'll just love you like brother.

Yeah, I echo Ralph. I use K9(it's free) and X3 Watch from xxxchurch.com(that's the one that emails my accountability partner with any questionable sites I have visited). I would have to say the most common reason for not installing a filter is because a person doesn't WANT to install a filter. Let's be real here...Jesus said "...pluck it out" and "...cut it off". If a person is SERIOUS about being free, they'll do what is necessary REGARDLESS of what other people may think or say.

Thanks for the input about K-9. I think I will uninstall WiseChoice and give it a try. WiseChoice was OK, but tended to overfilter alot of sites, like the media section of this website. Signed up for X3 Watch last nite, so I should be good to go. I encourage anyone who is not using a internet filter, to use one. Makes a HUGE difference! :)

I use BeSafe Online. Excellent. You need a person to password it for you. Also read my post "My Testimony". Check to see if there are any Celebrate Recovery ministries in your area. I'll help all I can.
