Bleak Prospects

Thanks, David. Around the time that I wrote this post everything was hitting the fan, but I was (most importantly) forgetting to allow Christ to be my one true escape. Despite all her shortcomings,…

Resting Content in the Lord

I find that I'm very seldom resting content in the Lord. Maybe it's my busy schedule, or lack of comfortable living surroundings, but that routine is hardly solid.

Which reminds me, I need to read the Word today. I have to keep remembering that EVEN THE LITTLEST BIT COUNTS. I'm sure Satan doesn't want me to read the Word at all. I'm in a reasonably good state of mind today, but the demands of work, lack of space in the apartment, and the weather-induced routine has squelched my getting… Continue

God's Calling - Doing the Work of Christ via Poetry & Writing

Dear Samson Brothers:

The last week or so has been one of the most excruciating weeks spiritually in my young Christian life (now pushing 2.5 years). But a pattern continues to emerge when I am kicked against the goads: the Spirit pours forth and ushers words inspired by none other than the Lord Himself.

Of all the pain and unanswered questions in my life, I know that He continues to be glorified through the words I pound out on the screen, or write on lined papers or even coff… Continue

Solid Ground - Being Unassailable to the Enemy

I've been thinking about how my lack of prayer life, lack of reading and studying the Word, and lack of being alone with my Creator has allowed the enemy to really wreak havoc on my life and soul of late.

Each time this happens, I am more susceptible to worshipping other gods - lust, women, money, materialism, trendy worldly ideas and philosophies, rebellion against God in general. And when this happens, I find myself angry at my wife, my marriage, and my lot in life - unable to be thankful for… Continue

Godly Web 2.0

Web 2.0 for Christian men - what a great gift! Instead of being tempted to unrighteousness by MySpace and Facebook, I have a site where the temptations to sin can be quelled and the click of a mouse. It's not quite like face-to-face contact, but it sure is relieving.

I'd like to thank the guys from Samson Society Philadelphia for hooking me up with the site. I've been a part of the Philly meeting for about a year now, around the time when this chapter was formed.

I don't have much else to say… Continue

Hey, I'm wondering if anyone knows how to adjust my Samson Profile so my posts do not show up in Google Searches. Periodically I google my name and today found one of my posts listed (not my intention).

Thanks in advance,
Nils

I was listening to James MacDonald this morning and the lesson was on the "root of bitterness," and how if we don't repent over our hardened hearts when they become bitter of (seemingly or actual) unfair circumstances they will eventually lead to godless living. As a newly married man in particular, my heart has been hard toward my wife and marriage much of the time, and on some days, it seems like I can't even pray, that I don't want things to get better, but God always seems to straighten things out.

Jim, you know my circumstances, and other brothers, I'm sure you can relate to marriages (sacred in God's eyes) in which our hearts have not always been owned by God. At times, I have been a wretched husband in the way I demean my marriage, insult my wife, etc. all because "I have a bad deal" by comparing my circumstances to other people.

But this forum I'm sure will help me as it has other men. Though she is impossible at times (it seems like everyday), my wife is a God-fearing woman that loves me.

I need to step up and be more God-fearing myself. Any help brothers in this area would be greatly appreciated.

In Him,
Nils
